I am an oil painter born in Washington, DC and raised in the Maryland suburbs, now raising my own amazing family in Kensington, MD.
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and and MBA, both from the University of Maryland, leading to a rewarding career in scientific study and health communications. Whenever possible, I have been able to take a variety of drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and painting classes from area institutions such as The Art League, The Yellow Barn, and The Compass Atelier to stay connected to a passion for creating art, which began early in my childhood.
I have discovered that oil painting has allowed me to connect deeply into my own artistic roots and has allowed me to create images of calm, beauty, joy, and human connection. As I develop my own touch to the canvas, I find myself drawn to abstract expressions of realistic forms, through loose and purposeful marks. I look for ways to use light and brushstrokes to evoke the emotion of a scene, portrait, or figure.
I am a resident artist with Artists & Makers Studios and Gallery 209, a member of the Montgomery Arts Association, Rockville Art League, Maryland Federation of Art, Friends of the Yellow Barn, and Gaithersburg Artists Collective. I have exhibited work locally in juried exhibitions, including award winning pieces at the Kensington Labor Day Show.
