Lisa Bernstein is a Washington, DC, artist who paints in water color and oil. A member of Capitol Hill Art League, Maryland Federation of Art, and Women’s Caucus for Art, she shows regularly at juried exhibitions in the DMV area, including Compass Gallery, Gallery B, Foundry Gallery, Hill Center, Sitar Art Center, Torpedo Factory, and Art at the Mill in Virginia. Lisa’s style is impressionistic, combining representational and abstract elements. Influences include Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, and Vincent van Gogh. With subjects ranging from flowers and still life to figures, portraits, landscapes, and cityscapes, she reflects, interprets, and documents the lives of her friends, family, and community.
Lisa enjoys connecting to her neighborhood community, engaging in communal plein air activities, and painting live at Palette 22 DC through its Artist-in-Residence Program. She participates in public art events, such as the Adams Morgan and Capitol Hill Art Walks, and DC Art All Night performance and pop-ups. Her work was included in the “Up in the Air” Mural, a Washington, DC, Ward 5 Environmental Justice Artivist Fellowship project for clean air and healthier spaces for all. She also donated paintings for the “Imagine Hope” art project at the Center for Hope building in Baltimore, Maryland’s permanent art exhibit for families and children who have suffered trauma.
